Frequently Asked Questions
We have answered the most common questions we hear from families nearing or in retirement so you can feel clear about what to expect and what to do next.
What is your fee structure?
Our fees depend on the service you choose and the complexity of your needs. If you decide to move forward beyond the initial consultation, we will explain any fees clearly in advance so you understand the cost and what is included before you make any decision.
Are you required to put my interests first?
Yes! Our approach is to start with your goals, then discuss strategies that fit your situation, and communicate tradeoffs in plain language. We also explain costs and potential conflicts so you can make informed decisions.
Who do you primarily work with for retirement planning?
We primarily work with people nearing or in retirement who want a coordinated plan for retirement income, investments, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, and legacy goals. Many people come to us because they want clarity and a plan they can follow.
I do not have a lot of money. Can you still help?
Often, yes. The best fit depends on what you need help with and whether we can add meaningful value to your planning. If we are not the right match, we will try to point you toward a helpful next step.
How much does the initial consultation cost?
The initial consultation is completely FREE. It is a chance to talk through your goals, ask general questions, and see if our planning approach is a fit. If you choose to move forward after that, we will explain any costs for additional services before you make any decisions.
What documents should I bring to my first meeting with a financial advisor?
Bring what you have available. Helpful documents include your most recent tax returns, your Social Security documents, and financial documents such as bank statements and retirement account statements. If you are missing something, that is okay. We can still start the conversation and outline next steps.
Can we do virtual or in-home meetings?
Yes! Virtual and in-home meetings are available and many families prefer them for convenience. We can meet virtually or in person and still cover key topics. We will work with you to decide the meeting format that works best for your schedule.
I already have a financial advisor. What would be the process to change?
We start with a conversation about what is working, what is not, and what you want to improve. If you decide to make a change, we will outline the steps, review any timing considerations, and help coordinate transfers when appropriate. You control what moves and when.
